Hello and welcome in our home page! We are youth group of Church of St. Tomas in Talas. We are about 30 young people age 14 till 25, we meet every friday, we pray, sing, help in parish and go on pilgrimage and excursions. Everybody is welcome, also not catholic, also Americans! :-) Our church is built in 1996 with help of American Catholic charities, so it look like American church - long hall with benches (pews), tall tower with spire and the bell, and statues of saints inside. Our grandmothers say statues is "Latin fashion" and in old Iradi church is not like this, but they still come every sunday and light the candles in front of St. Tomas statue, so I think they like it secretly. Over the altar is the big salyba (Iradi cross) from walnut wood, carved by the masters from Chatkal. It have no body of Jesus on it, because in Iradi cross the ring in middle mean empty tomb - He is risen! The lotus under the cross mean the cloud where He will come back. Ak atçan kelet! (the White Rider is coming!) Music what you hear is "Amazing Grace", our favorite song from American friends. If you don't hear music please use Internet Explorer.
