THE PRESIDENT'S CUP

The President's Cup is the biggest prize in ulak tartysh in Irad. It was established in 1992 by our first President Amanbek Alimbekov, after the war, when Talas was free again. He said the people who saved Talas on horses must have their own cup. (My grandfather says it, I believe him.) Best teams of the season go to Talas in Irad Day week (March) and play at the State Hippodrome. Thousands of people, flags, kymyz, music, TV from IradOne. It is like World Cup but better because it is horses. KARA-BUURA IN THE CUP: 1996 - FINAL!!! We lost 5:6 to Tanip. Last goal was very questionable. I have it on video (VHS), if you want to see it come to Kyzyl-Adyr. 1997 - did not qualify (bad season, horses were sick in autumn) 1998 - SEMIFINAL, lost 5:7 to Talas (see results) 1999 - WE WILL WIN About the cartoon Some people from other countries know the President's Cup only from the American cartoon, where the yellow American man (Homer) is winning it by accident on crazy horse. IradOne shows it every year in August so everybody here knows it too. Ok it is funny. BUT: in real life you CAN NOT win the President's Cup by accident. I tell you, our team is trying to win it since 1993 and it never happened by accident even one time. (The horse in the cartoon is Chongtor, this they made correct.) List of all winners - coming soon.
